Parent Letter #1
Home Literacy Support

Dear Parents,
I believe that providing opportunities for literacy at home is a very important aspect for our growing students. Children who are exposed to text as early as possible have the best preparation when learning to read and write in the classroom. There are many different activities and games that you can participate in with your child that will really further their literacy development. Here are some possible activities you can do with your child at home- read a story and ask your child to predict what they think the story is about or what will happen next, introduce rhyming words after you pick one out from a story you and your child read together (hat, cat, bat etc.), cook with your child and read the recipe to them out loud as they help you, look for objects around the house that begin with your child's first letter of their name, and be sure to ask your child open ended questions throughout the day to enhance their vocabulary. I have attached links to wonderful games and other activities at the bottom of the letter that I think you and your family will really enjoy! Any time your child is exposed to text, whether it is in the home or at a store, you are providing great opportunities for new learning. If you have any comments or questions on other possible activities, games, or strategies, feel free to ask anytime! I look forward to the wonderful stories I'm sure to hear from your child as you begin to do some of these fun activities.

Sincerely,
Miss Brittney

Parent Letter #2
Help in the Classroom

Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for coming to the open house and meet your teacher night! It was so wonderful to meet your families and child. I cannot wait until the first day of school to start learning more about your fantastic children. In my classroom, I LOVE any amount of help I can get. Kindergarten can be very hetic and busy, so and extra hand from parents really help the students and myself! We will have centers every day from 9:50-10:25 and a writing group rotating with me during this time as well. This would be the time parent helpers would also come in to work on various activities, reading, writing etc. with either a small group of children or individually. It would be a wonderful asset to our classroom and just another opportunity for our students to work on their literacy. There will be an attached sign up form directly below this letter. We will be working on something a little different as a whole group on fridays, so the sign up days are Monday-Thursday from 9:50 to 10:25. Thank you again for all of your support and I cannot wait to meet with you all again very soon!

Sincerely,
Miss Brittney

Parent Letter #3
Classroom Management

Dear Parents,
I just wanted to let you all know it little bit about my classroom management plan for your kindergarteners. I believe that the classroom should be a comfortable setting that provides many opportunities for learning. From the first day of school my students will know what is expected of them at all times. I will have our classroom expectations and procedures clearly posted, and these expectations will be created together as a class. The class procedures will include everything from a morning meeting or bell work, to daily helpers, to restroom use. The students will know when they are not doing what is expected because they can refer to these reminders. Every day I will write the daily agenda on the board; this is another opportunity that provides the students with the consistency that they need. There may be times when one-on-one attention is required for students that may need a little more help than others, and I will always be understanding and available to them. I will thoroughly discuss my classroom management plan with both the principal and you so that everybody is on board and on the same page. You will be getting our daily agenda in the mail very soon, and I will post our monthly calendar activities within the next few days. If you have any questions about my classroom management plan, or any other topic, please feel free to ask at any time!

Sincerely,
Miss Brittney
